This was originally a message I sent out through my private dream research group. It contains some personal experiences I have had in my life and a story that someone else sent me. I'll be doing some editing on this page over the next few days to so expect it to be changing.
The reason is because I had been working on a segment of my ofspiritualthings.htm page and the section I added most recently was about the voices of God. Then out of the blue a very good friend of mine who isn't even on my dream-link mailing list any more sent me this message and I had to send it out and share it with my family and friends.
I can't count how many times people have argued with me that the Bible itself it the Living Word of God and they can't understand the difference between the "Inspired Word of God" and the "Living Word of God" and nothing I seem to say can change their minds. The reason is because they have never actually heard the real Living Word of God in their own lives. They pray, they talk they preach but they won't be still long enough to listen to what God has to say back to them. He not only can speak to people on a personal level he does speak to people but they usually are so busy with their own thoughts and concerns they don't hear what God is staying to them.
Can God speak with a loud voice so you can be most certain it is Him speaking?
You bet He can and does but usually those "loud" calls from God are rare and for special occasions. Like when I was playing with the band and God spoke to me and suddenly the only thing I could hear was His voice calling my name loud and clear. He warned me to leave that place and his actual words were "get out of here!" Of course He spoke to me loud and clear on several occasions like that and even speaks to me loud and clear in my dreams and night-visions sometimes. He speaks to me in songs that I hear in my dreams and night visions. He speaks to me in pictures to like just last night. Sometimes I don't know what He's showing me because most of the time He speaks in symbols. Like last night I was singing a brand new song about heaven and God showed me a kite looking drawing with 8 white crosses in it. I don't have a clue what that means but some one out here might. I can draw it for you. In time I'm confident that God will explain the 8 white crosses. What I know is that 8 is a number of perfection. In grade school we may have received 5 gold stars but that's as high as it would go. In the spirit however God might award white crosses as a sign that his children or servant has preformed well. God may very well have been saying He was proud of my performance concerning his business and wants me to know by awarding me 8 white crosses within the 9th cross which was the kite like symbol.
It's one thing to say "I hear God's voice because sometimes He speaks to me even in a very loud clear voice in a language I can hear and understand clearly. But it's something else to say "He spoke to someone else on my behalf."
Once when Dawn the girls and I were stranded about 3 miles out of Albuquerque, NM with a blown engine we sat there holding a sign asking people to call the police for hours. Finally we gave up and I was about ready to use my brand new HAM radio for which I didn't even have a license to call someone for help when suddenly a car passing by slammed on his breaks and stopped to help us. This man actually had an expression on his face like he had seen a ghost or something and this caught my attention very quickly.
He helped us to a gas station about 3 miles away and when I went out to offer him some money he said he couldn't accept the money. I asked him why not and he said "you will think I'm crazy and won't believe me." I said "try me" and he said "The moment I passed your car God spoke to me and said 'You stop and help those people right now!" That's when he slammed on his breaks and stopped and backed up to help us. He said "You think I'm crazy right?" And I smiled and told him "No, I don't think you are crazy at all." Because God heard me and spoke to someone else and sent us help.
So that's why I say "God can speak in a loud voice so you can't miss him and once he does you will never forget that voice." Usually though God doesn't speak with that loud voice, Sometimes He speaks with a soft voice, sometimes He whispers but can still be heard and quoted word for word and we must be willing to listen. He speaks in songs, in pictures and in a lot of ways and it's our job to listen to what He has to say, like the man in this message below. I hope you find it interesting and enlightening.

A young man had been to Wed. night Bible Study. The pastor had shared about listening to God and obeying the Lord's voice. The young man couldn't help but wonder, "Does God still speak to people?" After service, he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message. Several different ones talked about how God had led them in different ways.
It was about ten o'clock when the young man started driving home. Sitting in his car, he just began to pray, "God...If you still speak to people speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey."
As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought to stop and buy a gallon of milk. He shook his head and said out loud, "God is that you?" He didn't get a reply and started on toward home. But again, the thought, buy a gallon of milk. The young man thought about Samuel and how he didn't recognize the voice of God, and how little Samuel ran to Eli. "Okay, God, in case that is you, I will buy the milk." It didn't seem like too hard a test of obedience. He could always use the milk. He stopped and purchased the gallon of milk and started off toward home.
As he passed Seventh Street, he again felt the urge, "Turn down that street." This is crazy he thought and drove on past the intersection. Again, he felt that he should turn down Seventh Street. At the next intersection, he turned back and headed down Seventh. Half jokingly, he said out loud, "Okay, God, I will."
He drove several blocks, when suddenly, he felt like he should stop. He pulled over to the curb and looked around. He was in a semi-commercial area of town. It wasn't the best but it wasn't the worst of neighborhoods either. The businesses were closed and most of the houses looked dark like the people were already in bed. Again, he sensed something, "Go and give the milk to the people in the house across the street."
The young man looked at the house. It was dark and it looked like the people were either gone or they were already asleep. He started to open the door and then sat back in the car seat. "Lord, this is insane. Those people are asleep and if I wake them up, they are going to be mad and I will look stupid."
Again, he felt like he should go and give the milk. Finally, he opened the door. "Okay God, if this is you, I will go to the door and I will give them the milk. If you want me to look like a crazy person, okay. I want to be obedient. I guess that will count for something but if they don't answer right away, I am out of here. He walked across the street and rang the bell.
He could hear some noise inside. A man's voice yelled out, "Who is it? What do you want?" Then the door opened before the young man could get away. The man was standing there in his jeans and t-shirt. He looked like he just got out of bed. He had a strange look on his face and he didn't seem too happy to have some stranger standing on his doorstep. "What is it?" The young man thrust out the gallon of milk. "Here I brought this to you."
The man took the milk and rushed down a hallway, speaking loudly in Spanish. Then from down the hall came a woman carrying the milk toward the kitchen. The man was following her holding a baby. The baby was crying. The man had tears streaming down his face. The man began speaking and half-crying, "We were just praying. We had some big bills this month and we ran out of money. We didn't have any milk for our baby. I was just praying and asking God to show me how to get some milk." His wife in the kitchen yelled out, "I ask him to send an Angel with some. Are you an Angel?" The young man reached into his wallet and pulled out all the money he had on him and put in the man's hand. He turned and walked back toward his car and the tears were streaming down his face. He knew that God still answers prayers.
This is a simple test... If you believe that God is alive and well, send this to at least ten people and the person that sent it to you!
" Stop telling God how big your storm is. Instead, tell the storm how big your God is! "
If the story here about the milk is true I do not know but do not doubt that it is. I put this message here because I know God does work like this because He has done it in my own life and I have had friends who have also received messages like this because they acted on faith and were willing to listen to what God was telling them.
I get chain mails all the time and seldom even have time to stop and read them let alone pass them along unless I think there's something very worthy in them. Religious people want to argue with me telling me that God doesn't talk to people anymore and that's only because they never shut up long enough to listen to God speaking to them. They stand there waiting for someone else to tell them what to do and what to believe in instead of allowing God to walk beside them day by day.
They want to argue with me over that voice I heard asking me "How do you know that voice you heard was God's voice?" Simple, He said "My sheep know my voice and they will not follow another." Either you believe Him or you don't and when I say if God speaks to you in that loud voice you will recognize it and never mistake His voice again, that's exactly what He was trying to tell people when He said that His sheep know his voice and will not follow another. And NO the devil can not and will not duplicate that voice to fool people. The devil has plenty of voices he uses to fool billions of people with and you need not look far to find them.
